Our School Prayer

Dear Lord,
We come as one each day,
To learn, to love, to grow and pray.
A family strong, in faith we stand,
With an open heart and a helping hand.
With Christ our guide, we walk His way,
In all we do and think and say.
Help us to shine, forgive, be true
To love like You in all we do.
We are Mount Carmel,

Amen.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
Pray for us.

Our School Chapel

We regularly celebrate Mass in our school chapel or hall. We celebrate First Friday Mass on the first Friday of each month.

Reflection

Poverty

The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty — it is not only a poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality. There’s a hunger for love, as there is a hunger for God.”
― Mother Teresa, A Simple Path: Mother Teresa

Mount Carmel are proud of the efforts we make in raising money for local and worldwide charities.

Faith and Community Group

Mount Carmel’s Faith and Community Group meet every half term. This consists of staff and students. We discuss many aspects related to faith within our school and across the community. A comprehensive schedule of events takes place throughout the year which includes para-liturgies, partnership events and support of charities through fundraising activities and other events.

Pupil Leadership

At Mount Carmel we take pupil leadership opportunities seriously and no more so than in the Faith life of our school. Every form groups has a nominated Chaplaincy Rep who takes responsibility for co-ordinating the pupil-led prayer rota and connected Home, School and Parish as we enter into the fourth phase of Hope for the Future.

Year 7 Welcome Day

We officially welcome our new Year 7 pupils soon after the Autumn term begins during a Welcome Day. They come off their timetables for the day and spend time reflecting on their first few weeks.

At the end of the day Mass is celebrated attended by family members and staff from both Mount Carmel and primary schools. Pupils contribute to the Mass singing and reading prayers.
