Congratulations to these Mount Carmel Library Superstars!
As part of the National Year of Reading Mount Carmel ran a 'Read for Good Readathon' with Year 7 pupils. This began in February and ended on World Book Day in March. The charity 'Read for Good' encourages children to read with a motivational approach that inspires reluctant readers to give reading a go and keen readers to read more widely. They are motivated to read because the money they raise in sponsorship helps to provide a regular supply of brand-new books and a resident storyteller to every major children's hospital in the UK. Year 7 pupil Freya A. raised the highest contribution of sponsorship. Many thanks to Freya and all the other pupils who raised an overall fantastic total of £510.50!
We also congratulated the following pupils; Year 7 Anabelle H., Year 8 Saad A. and Year 9 Sophie H. who have all collected 6 stamps on their library quiz bookmark. Their names were drawn out from all the pupils who have collected 6 stamps on their bookmark this term. They each received a book voucher and an Easter egg.
