School choirs and readers from Mount Carmel High School and primary schools; St. Mary’s Oswaldtwistle, St. Oswald’s, St. Mary’s Clayton-le-Moors and Sacred Heart all came together in Mount Carmel’s school Hall for the annual Catholic Schools’ Partnership Carol Concert.

Mount Carmel Head Boy Cole and Head Girl Sophia welcomed visitors at the beginning of the evening. The beautiful voices of 150 pupils in the school choirs sang individually and also collectively and the congregation joined in with the carols.

Headteachers, teaching and support staff from all the schools along with family, friends and local residents came along to watch the concert, filling the school hall to full capacity.

Advent readings were read by pupils from all schools as candles on the Advent Wreath were lit. Mr Davies, Curriculum Leader for R.E. at Mount Carmel read extracts from scripture and explained the true meaning of the Advent; the weeks leading up to Christmas Day.

Candles were handed out for each visiting family to take home with them and light on Christmas day and all pupils in the choirs received a sweet treat.
