Mount Carmel Year 7 pupils went on an exciting trip to Skipton Castle, and its surrounding Church and Town Hall.
The purpose of this trip was to consolidate and apply the pupils' knowledge of Medieval Castles - both Motte and Bailey and the Stone Square Keep Castles. The pupils have explored Norman Castles under William the Conqueror, and were guided around Skipton Castle by the expert tour guides, where they learned the castle's history, and its pivotal role in the Civil War.
The trip was a great success, and all pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience, despite the wet weather! They were able to tell the tour guides about their own knowledge of drawbridges, portcullis' and the purpose of a Castle in Norman England. They will now continue to learn about the role of the Castle in Medieval society in the classroom.
